Till the Evening Comes

By myself just strumming some chords
First warm day of spring
Trying to think up some meaningful words, but not
coming up with a thing

Sunlight sparkling on the creek
South wind in the trees
My old dog staring so far away, and I
wonder what he sees

Chorus

I guess I don’t really have a thing to say, so I’ll just
sit here in the sun
The world will spin along without me, anyway
Till the evening comes
And my time is done

Martins making their happy sounds
Chattering away
A long trip back from Brazil, I guess, so they’ve
got a whole lot to say

Red wings socialize in the reeds
Grackles plot and scheme
Squirrels scold but man, I just don’t care, ‘cause I’m
content to doze here and dream

Chorus

By myself, just strumming some chords
First warm day of spring
Trying to think up some meaningful words, but not
coming up with a thing

Chorus
